Upgrade: Anima Nova Carbon Sound Post

The soul of the instrument, adjustable while fitted.

The sound post is the smallest component in a string instrument and the most consequential one. Italian instrument makers call it anima, the soul. Move it by a fraction of a millimetre and the entire tonal character changes.

What makes Anima Nova different

A conventional spruce sound post is fitted once and then stays where it is. Any later correction means setting it again. Anima Nova is made of carbon and is adjustable in height while fitted, through a fine knurled thread. That allows the tension between top and back to be changed deliberately, without opening the instrument.

For the player this means the sound can be readjusted when requirements change, moving from chamber music to solo work, for example, or after a change of strings.

Included in the price

Fitting remains precision work. We carry out the fine adjustment in our workshop before the instrument is shipped. Any instrument maker with the right tool can change it later at any time.

This upgrade is sold exclusively together with an instrument from our own production and is fitted at the workshop. It cannot be retrofitted to instruments from other makers.
