The PremiumLine Cello represents the pinnacle of our production – an instrument for soloists, principal players, and cellists who seek the resilience and climate stability of carbon fiber without compromising on the tonal qualities of a master-built instrument. Every PremiumLine Cello is the result of a rigorous acoustic selection. We do not build these instruments to order – we identify them during the course of production.

Selection

Approximately 95 % of our production becomes professional DesignLine cellos. In the remaining 3–5 % of bodies, microscopic variations in the fiber-resin structure produce a resonance behaviour that significantly exceeds the standard. These bodies are separated early in the process and routed into a dedicated production line.

Before an instrument receives PremiumLine certification, it must pass two decisive evaluations:

• Audiometric Analysis: Technical measurement of frequency spectrum, volume, and overtone behaviour – only instruments with a superior acoustic profile advance.
• Expert Assessment: Two professional cellists play the instrument independently. Only upon unanimous confirmation does the body proceed to final finishing.

Sound

The PremiumLine Cello offers a dynamic range without limits. The instrument can be driven to full fortissimo without the tone breaking or compressing. At the same time, its refined response allows for harmonics and pianissimo nuances of a subtlety that stands comparison with the finest wooden instruments.

• Dynamics: Unlimited reserves from pianissimo to fortissimo – without compression, without break-up.
• Projection: Solo-grade carrying power for large concert halls.
• Tonal Palette: Rich and complex – a sound that combines depth, warmth, and brilliance.

Components

A selected body deserves components without compromise. All of the following are included:

• Sound Post: Anima Nova Carbon – height-adjustable, for optimal vibration transfer and tension balance between top and back plate.
• Bridge: Milo Stamm Royal – hand-carved, highest grade, for superior response and tonal transmission.
• Strings: Thomastik Versum Solo & Spirocore Tungsten (alternatively Larsen Il Cannone or Pirastro Perpetual on request).
• Pegs: Wittner fine-tuning pegs with Swarovski crystals – precise tuning and a subtle hallmark of the PremiumLine.
• Endpin: Choice of special endpin (titanium/steel hammer) or perforated titanium endpin for maximum resonance freedom.
• Fingerboard: CITES-free composite – temperature-resistant, smooth, sustainable.

Optional: Orchestra Finish

Many PremiumLine customers perform in leading orchestras. The Orchestra Finish option gives the instrument a convincingly realistic wood appearance – customised to your preferences: lighter or darker varnish, style of flaming, one-piece or two-piece back. Your cello integrates visually into your section while retaining every advantage of carbon fiber.

Optional: Hybrid

The PremiumLine Cello is also available as a Hybrid version with a permanently integrated ANS pickup (AbsoluteNaturalSound). The system is based on dynamic microphone technology and captures the instrument's natural voice – warm, detailed, free from the harshness of piezo-based systems. Connection via standard 1/4" (6.3 mm) jack, plug & play, no battery required.

Availability

Only about 3–5 % of our production qualifies for the PremiumLine. Availability is strictly limited and cannot be planned. Waiting times may occur. When a PremiumLine Cello is available, you receive an instrument of rare acoustic quality – a unique piece from our workshop.

The PremiumLine Cello is available in the described configuration. Custom finishes beyond the Orchestra Finish option are not available, in order to preserve the acoustic integrity of the selected body. Configuration options: Hybrid (pickup) and Orchestra Finish (varnish) only.
