Acoustically selected. Tested for solo work. Built in Germany.
The mf | solo cello is not a series instrument. Only about one in twenty bodies we build reaches the acoustic properties this line requires. We do not build these instruments to order, we identify them during production. Availability cannot be planned.

Selection
In a small share of bodies, microscopic variations in the fiber and resin structure produce resonance behavior well above the standard. Those bodies are separated early in the process and moved into a production line of their own. Two inspections decide:
- Audiometric analysis: measurement of frequency spectrum, volume and overtone behavior
- Expert judgement: two professional cellists play the instrument independently, and the body goes on to finishing only if both agree
Tone
A dynamic range with no discernible limit. The instrument can be driven fully into fortissimo without the tone breaking or saturating. At the same time the fine response allows harmonics and pianissimo nuances of a subtlety that does not shy away from comparison with the best wooden instruments. Projection carries as a solo instrument through large concert halls.

Options
Orchestra Finish: many customers of this line play in major orchestras. With this option the instrument receives a wood look to your specification and fits visually into the section.
Hybrid: with a built-in Cordasonus pickup. A proprietary treated crystal from a German ceramics technology company sits in the bridge and registers pressure changes there and nothing else. Natural tone without the hardness of conventional piezo systems, 10 Hz to 80 kHz, rotatable in the bridge and therefore tunable tonally.
