The 6-string cello is one of the most demanding instruments we build. Its range extends from the low F-string in the double bass register to the high E-string in the viola range – a frequency spectrum that pushes traditional materials to their limits. Our carbon fiber body provides the stability and resonance that make this range possible: clean response across all six strings, without wolf tones, without compromise.

Construction

A 6-string cello is not simply a cello with two extra pegs. Statics, geometry, and string action must be entirely rethought to handle the extreme string tension across the full frequency spectrum. Only a handful of instrument makers worldwide take on this challenge.

Carbon fiber offers a decisive advantage over wood: the body provides the structural rigidity needed for the high string tension while delivering the resonance that allows every single string – from the lowest to the highest – to speak with clear, immediate response.

Playability

For six strings to remain musically playable, the setup is critical. The instrument ships with a widened neck and a custom-made fingerboard. String spacing and bridge curvature are calibrated with such precision that each string can be bowed cleanly without touching adjacent strings. A playing feel that is only possible through absolute manufacturing precision.

Components

The 6-string cello is delivered exclusively in full specification – every component is matched to the particular demands of this instrument:

• Pickup: ANS (AbsoluteNaturalSound) – permanently integrated, plug & play via 1/4" (6.3 mm) jack. Ready for amplifier, loop station, or studio.
• Sound Post: Anima Nova Carbon – height-adjustable, essential for distributing the tension of six strings optimally across the body.
• Fingerboard: Widened custom fingerboard in ebony – for optimal feel at this neck width.
• Strings: Pirastro Perpetual (C, G, D, A) combined with Pirastro Permanent (high E and low F).
• Bridge: Milo Stamm master bridge – individually fitted to the 6-string geometry.
• Pegs: Wittner fine-tuning pegs – precise tuning with minimal effort.
